Chickerell businesses are set to benefit from a regeneration grant from West Dorset District Council via the community interest company Open 4 Business CIC.
Open 4 Business initially approached West Dorset District Council on behalf of Chickerell businesses in a bid to secure available funds. The grant clearly sets out certain parameters which Open 4 Business must fulfil such as the funds must be used for the promotion of Chickerell to local, regional and new visitors to the town from outside of Dorset. The grant also requested that the town encouraged local residents to use more of the local facilities. To meet these requirements a partnership was formed with Resort Marketing, the local company that produces the “Resort 2012” visitor magazine. Over 250,000 copies are printed and distributed to over 1000 outlets across Dorset between Easter and September.
The grant will fund editorial pages in the Resort guide and businesses who advertise will also benefit from a 20% discount. Many other towns in Dorset have dedicated feature pages and they do give a good overall flavour of each destination, attracting visitors who might otherwise have not considered visiting a particular area. Resort Magazine is a free magazine.
Julie Cleaver, Managing Director of Open 4 Business said:
More than a million visitors are expected to visit the area in 2012 as a direct result of the town hosting the sailing games in July & August. Over 65,000 tickets have been sold to visitors who will be watching the sailing games at the Nothe, Weymouth. Many visitors are expected to visit Chickerell on 12th July when the Olympic Torch will pass through the village. This grant provides an opportunity for all Chickerell businesses to shine a light on their business in 2012.
If any Chickerell business is interested in taking part in the Resort Magazine feature then please telephone 01305 770111 or email sales@resortmarketing.co.uk before 24th February 2012
